Training Courses Available MVA, in conjunction with TAFE Queensland (TQ Mining Services, a division of the Queensland Government Department of Employment and Training) offers a full range of mine ventilation training courses, all available in nationally accredited, fully portable versions. These courses are suitable for Australian and international students, irrespective of residency. Courses can also be run in other locations or at other times by prior arrangement. Contact MVA for further details. All MVA courses include comprehensive software analysis programs, comprehensive course notes and a comprehensive resource CD. These courses provide all students with the "state of the art" in mine ventilation training and competency in Australia. MVA course materials including course notes are updated at least annually to ensure they are up-to-date with industry developments and trends. The principal course for metalliferous ventilation officers and engineers is MNMMSM631A. Refer to Table 1 below. The principal course for coal mine ventilation officers and engineers is MNCU1109A (which automatically includes MNCU1102A, MNCU1106A, MNCU1111A, MNCU1121A). Refer to Table 1 and Table 2 below. In addition, any ventilation officer that needs to use Ventsim software should enrol in either the Ventsim Classic (original) or Ventsim Visual course. Ventsim Visual is available in two forms: Standard and Advanced. The 3-day Ventsim Visual course covers the Advanced form, which includes all the features of Ventsim Visual Standard. If students are likely to be using Ventsim Visual for modelling heat loads, temperatures or looking into cooling issues, then it is strongly recommended that they also complete the AMV100 and AMV102 courses, which cover Psychrometry, Heating and Cooling Processes, Elements of Mine Climate, Heat Loads and Refrigeration Systems Design. The Advanced Diploma in Mine Ventilation covers all metalliferous and coal ventilation competencies. See Table 2 below. Students are allowed to repeat any MVA workshop FREE OF CHARGE (apart from a fee to cover the cost of a new workbook and meals). This is especially helpful for students who don't already have an engineering degree as it allows them return to their mine site and practice their skills and review course materials and then return for a much improved understanding on their repeat workshop. Completion of these courses will also meet some of the requirements for the Queensland First Class Mine Manager's Certificates of Competency (Coal or Metalliferous). For full details of these requirements, refer to: http://www.dme.qld.gov.au/mines/board_examiners.cfm

Fees for accredited versions can be subject to change with changes in TAFE policy.Confirm fees prior to enrolment. Details subject to change without notice. Check for current details before enrolment. Courses can be cancelled if there are insufficient registrations. These courses are also integrated seamlessly into the higher level AQF qualifications MNC60204 Advanced Diploma of Underground Coal Mining Management and MNM60104 Advanced Diploma of Metalliferous Mining (Underground), which can also be undertaken through TQMS, and into statutory qualifications such as the First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency and the Coal Ventilation Officer or Metalliferous Ventilation Officer (which vary from State to State). These ventilation courses can also be undertaken along with or in fulfilment of two nationally recognised qualifications within the AQF with a reduction in cost by payment of an up-front fee. Table 2
